Dear Resident,

As promised, please find an update on the Reclamation Center. I will continue to provide these updates on a monthly basis.

Below you will find the benchmarks that have been completed, in progress or scheduled.

Completed Benchmarks
• Received material and supplies for the temporary cap to cover 30 acres of the landfill.
• Graded the landfill to prepare for the temporary cap.
• Completed the installation of additional eight surface gas collection wells.
• Tied all surface wells into the gas collection system.
• The engineer’s design of the temporary cap and well locations has been finalized.
• The capital ordinance was adopted during the Commissioner Meeting on March 28.
• The materials for 21 vertical (gas collection) wells are on site and eight wells have been drilled.
• The contractor has been hired and started to install the vertical wells.
• Ordered materials for two flare upgrades.
• Met with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) and discussed the overall plan.
• Ordered the materials for the two flare upgrades.

In Progress
• Begin installation of the temporary cap.
• Begin installation of 21 vertical (gas collection) wells.
• Receive the materials for the two flare upgrade orders.
• Daily odor-related inspections.
• Updating the Monmouth County Reclamation Center web pages.


Scheduled
• Receive the materials and supply order.
• Complete upgrades on the two flares.
• Complete the 21 vertical (gas collection) wells.
• Complete the temporary cap.


We are also proud to announce some benchmarks, such as the installation of eight of the 21 vertical wells, are ahead of schedule. We are proud of the progress that has been made but rest assured, we are committed to resolving this issue in a timely manner.
