Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) - also known as Food Stamps
Provides food assistance to families and individuals with low income to supplement their food budgets for nutritional food essentials. Households must meet certain eligibility requirements to be eligible for SNAP benefits including meeting the maximum allowable income guidelines. Income guidelines and program policies are regulated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture/Food and Nutrition Service.
New Jersey has a minimum monthly SNAP benefit amount of $95. For household that are approved for less than $95 monthly benefit under the federal payment, New Jersey will supplement a payment that equals $95 total monthly benefit.
As a SNAP recipient, your case information will automatically be submitted as an application to the LIHEAP/USF program. See our Home Energy Assistance page for more information.
