At this time, the County is administering the Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines which is approved for adults ages 18 and over at our Brookdale Community College vaccination site (Montessori Children's Learning Center located between Lots 4 and 5 on the Brookdale Community College campus starting Tuesday, Sept. 14). The County is also administering the Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine, which is approved for children ages 5 and up at our Brookdale Community College vaccination site. Anyone under 18 MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
All COVID-19 vaccines are now approved for use of Booster doses.
Pfizer: Booster dose can be received at least 6 months after 2nd dose. The options to get Moderna or J&J as a booster dose after completing a Pfizer 2-dose series is also acceptable.
Moderna: Booster dose can be received at least 6 months after 2nd dose. The option to get Pfizer or J&J as a booster dose after completing a Moderna 2-dose series is also acceptable. The Moderna Booster Dose is half the amount of vaccine as the primary series.
J&J: Booster dose can be received at least 2 months after the 1st dose. The option to get Pfizer or Moderna as a booster dose after completing the 1st dose is also acceptable.
What's the difference between a third dose and a booster shot?
Third doses
Who: People are eligible if they: (1) Received 2 doses of the Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine AND (2) are moderately to severely immunocompromised*
Why: Helps protect those who did not build enough protection with 2-dose vaccination
When: Eligible starting 28 days after second dose of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine
*Immunocompromised = an individual with a weakened immune system due to certain health conditions
Boosters
Who: People are eligible if they: (1) Received 2 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine AND (2) are 65+, OR a long term care resident, OR 18+ with high risk of severe COVID-19 due to underlying health conditions or workplace exposure? For example healthcare workers, teachers and others whose job puts them at risk of severe COVID-19.
Why: Helps protect those with healthy immune systems whose protection from vaccination has decreased over time
When: Eligible starting 6 months after second dose of Pfizer vaccine
