Using the Rail System

North Jersey Coast Line schedules are available at rail stations, and through online phone application services such as Google Maps, Moovit, and the NJTRANSIT phone application. Availability of daily free and permit parking at rail stations is limited. Please check with the appropriate municipal parking authority, or NJTRANSIT.com for more information. Alternately see the Park and Rides tab.

Tickets can be purchased at vending machines, ticket offices located at certain stations, on a cellular device, and at commissioned ticket agents. Passengers who purchase tickets aboard the train will be required to pay an additional charge of $5.00, except for senior citizens who are exempt. When boarding the train, please have your ticket ready. A conductor will be coming by to stamp your ticket.

Rail Ticket Options

You may purchase tickets from NJ TRANSIT ticket agent staff at select stations, at Ticket Vending Machines, or on your phone before boarding the train. Stations with ticket offices and their operating hours are listed in the Railroad Stations Table. Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs) are available at many North Jersey Coast Line stations, and accept up to $20 bills for purchase of one-way and round-trip fares. Monthly and weekly rail tickets can be purchased from special TVM charge machines using Visa, Mastercard, Discover, or Debit Cards at Penn Station - Newark and New York City. TVMs are also available at Princeton Junction, Hamilton and Trenton Stations on the NJ TRANSIT Northeast Corridor Line.
