Environmental Planning

  • Coordinates and provides technical assistance for grant funded regional watershed planning projects
  • Provides direction for municipal representatives to the appropriate State agency contacts and programs to meet their needs and address their concerns
  • Provides watershed related school presentations through the AmeriCorps Program to public and private schools and youth groups that serve Monmouth County students
  • Provides environmentally oriented brochures on topics of interest to Monmouth County residents and municipalities
  • Provides outreach and educational roundtable events that highlight new environmentally oriented initiatives beneficial to residential, commercial and local government audiences
  • Co-hosts the Monmouth County Greentable that sponsors educational workshops and periodically brings together government representatives, groups and individuals working to preserve open space and farmland.
  • Coordinates the Right to Farm (RTF) Program, working to resolve conflicts between commercial farmers and municipalities or private landowners. The Monmouth County Agriculture Development Board (MCADB) holds hearings to resolve the disputes, provides mediation services to facilitate conflict resolution, and helps determine whether or not a specific farming operation conforms to generally accepted agriculture management practices
  • Directs farmland preservation efforts by sharing technical expertise and preparing documents to enable municipalities to access state farmland preservation funds
  • Assists with the preparation of municipal farmland preservation plans, an optional element of municipal master plans
