It is more important now than ever to support our local businesses, which is why I am proud to present the Take Out in Monmouth program that my fellow Commissioners and I created last spring shortly after the start of the global health crisis.
Monmouth County is home to so many wonderful restaurants and food establishments that employ thousands of our friends, neighbors and members of our local communities. Moreover, we know the strain business owners have had during the initial State shutdown and continued restrictions that first prohibited and now continue to limit indoor dining. As such, we are proud to have created a program in which we supply take-out bags to restaurants that are seeing a spike in to-go orders.
Though a small gesture, we feel it important to assist our business owners in any way we can. To date, we have delivered over 40,000 take-out bags, for free, to more than 100 businesses. In December 2020, we announced a second round of bag deliveries, again free of charge to businesses.
Additionally, we compiled a list of restaurants offering takeout in each town. However, due to constantly changing schedules and restrictions, we ask that you reach out to the establishment for hours of operation and to local chamber of commerce or town websites to see the latest lists and updates.
Business owners that would like to request free take-out bags are asked to TakeOutInMonmouth@visitmonmouth.com with the name of the establishment, address and phone number.
Please know that I am in constant contact with state and federal officials to advocate on behalf of our business community. Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and account for more than 95 percent of the business community in Monmouth County.
As liaison to the Monmouth County Divisions of Economic Development and Tourism, and on behalf of the Commissioner Deputy Director Kiley, Commissioner Burry, Commissioner DiRocco and Commissioner Licitra, I want to thank you for your support of our small business community. Remember, dine local and shop local!
Sincerely,
Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone
