Freeholders wish everyone
a safe, happy July 4th
County offices will be closed on Wednesday for holiday observance
FREEHOLD – The Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders wishes everyone a safe and happy Fourth of July weekend, and reminds residents that most county offices will be closed on Wednesday, July 4 in observance of the holiday. All county parks and golf courses will remain open.
“As our celebration of American independence and freedom takes place with friends and family at picnics, barbecues and fireworks displays, we should remember the brave acts and sacrifices that made this all possible,” Freeholder Director John P. Curley said. “Let us keep in our hearts and minds American patriots and our veterans and members of our Armed Forces soldiers who have fought for us and continue to protect us today.”
Monmouth County residents are also reminded that consumer possession of fireworks is illegal in New Jersey and that a fire started by fireworks puts an unnecessary strain on emergency services throughout Monmouth County.
"With the Independence Day holiday upon us, it is important to understand the risks of illegal fireworks,"; Freeholder Director John P. Curley said. "Our recent water emergency makes this even more critical."
Be safe and be smart: leave the fireworks displays to the trained professionals," Fire Marshal Henry Stryker III said. "Let's have a great July 4th holiday and enjoy the fireworks celebrations that will be held in many communities."
