2023 Area Plan Contract

A pen laying on a signed contract

The 2023 Area Plan Contract represents Monmouth County’s plan for serving its older residents over the age of 60. Monmouth County has many innovations and initiatives to be executed in the services and programs that will best meet the needs of our older adults.

The Monmouth County Office on Aging was established in May 1975 and was designated as an Area Agency on Aging with the purpose of planning for, receiving and distributing aging funds and resources. As such, the Office on Aging is the main focal point on aging in Monmouth County. It is in a continual process of planning to determine the needs of the elderly in the county (with special emphasis given to the needs of low income, minority and frail elderly as required by the Older Americans Act).

The Agency inventories resources in the county and develops programs for pooling available but untapped resources from both the public and private sectors in order to strengthen existing services or implement new services. It also offers technical assistance to providers of social services for seniors, enters into contracts with agencies in order to strengthen gap-filling and supportive services, and is responsible for monitoring, assisting and evaluating those programs to which it allocates grant funding. The OOA is supported in its endeavors by a vital, talented group of individuals who are appointed to the Advisory Council of the Agency. Individuals 60 years of age or older comprise the majority of this committee.
