The Division of Engineering & Traffic Safety is part of the Monmouth County Department of Public Works & Engineering. This division is responsible for the planning, analysis, design, construction and maintenance of Monmouth County's extensive transportation network and public building inventory; which includes over:

  • 980 bridges and culverts
  • 1000 lane miles of roads
  • 250 traffic signals
  • the Bayshore Ferry Terminal
  • and approximately 2 million square feet of public buildings

The division's engineering and technical staff are organized in various sections and units with specific areas of expertise, as follows:

  • Surveying
  • Drafting/GIS
  • Right of Way
  • Facilities Engineering (buildings)
  • Development Review & Drainage

Traffic Safety Unit (four sections)

  • Signs & Lines

These division units and sections collaborate on a daily basis with one another, as well as with other divisions and departments. This extends to professional consulting firms and private contractors in an effort to provide high quality, cost effective solutions to the County's transportation and buildings infrastructure needs.
