Monmouth County Officials Encourage Residents and
Businesses to Fly the American Flag During Summer 2026
'Fly Your Flag’ County-Wide Effort Marks the Nation’s
250th Birthday
FREEHOLD, NJ – The Monmouth County Board of County
Commissioners and the MonmouthNJ 250 Committee are encouraging residents,
businesses, community organizations and visitors to proudly display the
American flag throughout the Summer of 2026 in honor of the nation's 250th
birthday.
As communities across the country commemorate the
Semiquincentennial of the United States, Monmouth County officials are inviting
everyone to take part in this historic, once-in-a-lifetime celebration by
displaying the Stars and Stripes at homes, businesses, schools and public
gathering places.
"The 250th anniversary of America's founding is a
milestone that none of us will experience again," said Monmouth County
Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone, Co-Chair of the MonmouthNJ 250
Committee. "We encourage everyone throughout Monmouth County to join us in
creating a sea of red, white and blue this summer. By proudly displaying the
American flag, we can honor our nation's past, celebrate our shared values and
inspire future generations to appreciate the freedoms we enjoy today."
Monmouth County played a pivotal role in the American
Revolution and will be at the center of New Jersey's Semiquincentennial
commemoration through a yearlong series of educational programs, community
events, exhibits and celebrations.
"America's 250th birthday is a moment for all of us to
reflect on the freedoms we enjoy, the sacrifices made by generations of
Americans and the enduring ideals that unite us as a nation," said
Monmouth County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon, Co-Chair of the
MonmouthNJ 250 Committee. "Our ‘Fly Your Flag’ initiative is a simple but
powerful way for every resident, business and organization to participate in
this historic celebration and demonstrate pride in our country."
The MonmouthNJ 250 Committee's themes - Patriotism, Pride
and Participation ¾encourage all residents to become active participants in
commemorating America's 250th birthday and Monmouth County's significant role
in the nation's founding.
