County
Commissioners proclaim March
as Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month
FREEHOLD, NJ – The Monmouth
County Board of County Commissioners proclaimed March 2026 as Colorectal Cancer
Awareness Month during a meeting on March 26.
A proclamation was presented by
Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone to representatives of Red Bank
Gastroenterology.
“As we mark Colorectal Cancer
Awareness Month, we urge residents to be proactive about their health, as early
detection remains one of the most effective tools against a disease that
affects one in 24 individuals,” said Commissioner Director Arnone. “Residents
are encouraged to speak with their primary care physician to better understand
screening options and preventive care.”
According to the American Cancer
Society, there were approximately 108,860 new colorectal cancer cases in 2025,
and the disease is projected to become the leading cause of cancer-related
deaths among individuals ages 20 to 49 by 2030; it is currently the second
leading cause of cancer deaths among men and women combined in the United
States.
