Monmouth County
Commissioners
highlights Shared Services success stories
Two Monmouth
County municipalities join with County to cut costs
FREEHOLD, NJ – As part of their series on successful shared services
partnerships, the Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners is excited to
highlight the benefits of a shared service agreement with the Township of
Aberdeen and the Township of Holmdel.
Monmouth County offers a Municipal Assistance Agreement that allows
local government entities to request various services from the County, along
with the Commodity Resale Agreement, which allows the purchase of commodities
at a lower cost. These agreements are offered through the Department of Public
Works and are proven to help municipalities come together to achieve one
goal—receive services at a lower cost.
“Partnering
with Aberdeen and Holmdel was a natural step for the county. By coming
together, we were able to accomplish our shared goals efficiently with the help
of the Public Works Department,” said Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone, liaison
to the Office of Shared Services and Department of Public Works. “We delivered
professional results and achieved triple the savings.”
?“In Monmouth County, there is an
organization called the Bayshore Mayors, which is made up of 10 towns. We meet
quarterly with guest speakers. On one occasion, Commissioner Director Arnone
spoke of County shared services. With that said, Holmdel and Aberdeen entered
into a Shared Services agreement to pave Line Road located in both towns. We
were able to complete this paving project at a considerable saving. The quality
of work was extraordinary,” said Fred Tagliarini, Mayor of Aberdeen.
“On behalf
of Holmdel Township, I would like to extend our sincere thanks to Monmouth
County for their support and partnership in the recent road paving project on
Line Road, which we share with Aberdeen. The County’s collaboration and
commitment to improving local infrastructure made this project a success, and
we truly appreciate your role in facilitating and supporting these kinds of
cooperative efforts between municipalities. The improvements will benefit residents
of both towns and enhance overall safety and connectivity in our region. I look
forward to continuing our strong working relationship on future initiatives
that serve our shared communities,” said Brian Foster, Mayor of Holmdel.
Shared Service Agreements that Aberdeen has with
Monmouth County are Commodity Resale, OPRS-RIM, Public Safety Answering Point,
Tax Board MOD IV, and the Community Rating System Agreement.
Holmdel’s Shared Services agreements include Municipal
Assistance, Commodity Resale, Public Safety Answering Point, OPRS-RIM, Tax
Board MOD IV and iTaxMap.
The Monmouth County Office of Shared Services facilitates partnerships
with local government entities through which the County provides services,
equipment and resources to a local government, which helps to reduce costs and
increase efficiency.
