Marlboro High School students win
2024 New Jersey Consumer Bowl

TRENTON, NJ – The Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners congratulates the Marlboro High School Consumer Bowl team for winning the 2024 New Jersey Consumer Bowl state championship on May 30 at the Richard J. Hughes Justice Complex.

The Consumer Bowl is a game-show-style competition that tests students’ knowledge of consumer-related information. The Marlboro students previously won the 2024 Monmouth County Consumer Bowl and the 2024 Central Region Consumer Bowl to advance to the state competition.

“Congratulations to the Marlboro High School Consumer Bowl team for winning the 2024 state championship,” said Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone. “There is so much work and preparation that goes into studying the many facets of the Consumer Fraud Act and we are proud of them for accomplishing this incredible feat.”

“During the Consumer Bowl, students answered questions about topics covered in the Consumer Fraud Act such as home improvement contractors, gift cards, cryptocurrency, identity theft, internet issues and amusement games,” said Commissioner Erik Anderson, liaison to the Monmouth County Division of Consumer Affairs. “The Board of County Commissioners is incredibly proud of the Marlboro students and their achievement.”

The members of the Marlboro High School Consumer Bowl team are Sean Gelman (captain), Summer Adler, David Tabak, Elan Abramson and Chase Sussman (alternate). The team’s teachers/advisers are Patrick Scinto and Nicole Bendik, and Marlboro High School’s principal is David Bleakley.

Monmouth County Consumer Affairs has five investigators who actively assist residents with consumer issues. The Division’s staff has the resources and the authority to investigate complaints about billing, gift cards, home repair, car sales and repairs, scams and much more. The Division annually investigates more than 600 complaints and attempts to mediate solutions.
