Commissioners
activate traffic signal at intersection of County Route 13A (Sycamore Avenue)
and County Route 51 (Hance Avenue)
FREEHOLD, NJ – The Monmouth County Board of County
Commissioners held a traffic signal activation ceremony for the completed an
intersection improvement project at the intersection of County Route 13A
(Sycamore Avenue) and County Route 51 (Hance Avenue) in the Borough of Tinton
Falls.
“I am happy to see the long-awaited improvements to this
intersection come to completion,” said Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone, liaison
to the Monmouth County Department of Public Works and Engineering. “These
enhancements were made in an effort to maintain the high quality of life of the
area residents while, at the same time, improve the safety of the intersection.”
These intersection improvements include the installation of
a traffic signal, a Red Signal Ahead sign, minor widening of Sycamore Avenue to
accommodate a dedicated left turn lane eastbound, minor curb work, milling and
pavement resurfacing, upgraded signage and revisions to striping along all
approaches to the intersection.
“The County worked closely with the Borough of Tinton Falls
to minimize the impacts to the surrounding community and these improvements
were designed within the existing right-of-way and without any impacts to the
adjacent residential properties,” said Commissioner Director Arnone. “These improvements
were constructed by on-call and in-house forces.”
Despite the long delay on the delivery of the signal
equipment due to material shortages resulting from the pandemic, all
improvements have now been completed.
In total, the County maintains approximately 1,000 lane
miles of roads, 980 bridges and culverts and 250 traffic signals and
beacons.
