County urges residents to travel safely in snowstorm

FREEHOLD, NJ – As the snow heads our way, Department of Public Works and Engineering have pretreated County roads and continue to monitor the impending storm. County officials urge residents to travel safely.

“I urge anyone traveling during this storm to exercise caution and allow for extra time to get where they are going as the roadways may be slippery,” said Freeholder Director Thomas A. Arnone, liaison to the County’s Department of Public Works and Engineering. “We have 225 trucks and equipment outfitted with spreading and plowing capabilities. If you encounter plows or sand trucks, please be alert and allow them to do their work.”

Upon the start of snowfall, County roads will receive an application of deicing material. Snow is likely before noon, then continuing through the evening hours before switching to a wintry mix. Total daytime accumulation is estimated to be 2 to 4 inches.

The County maintains about 1,000 lane miles of roads, 35 building complexes and the Belford Ferry Terminal along with assisting municipalities.
