First Public Meeting on the Comprehensive Freight Related Transportation Study

Moving Mindfully: Monmouth/Mercer Counties

FREEHOLD, NJ – On Tuesday, Oct. 2, the Monmouth County Division of Planning will hold its first public meeting for Moving Mindfully: Monmouth\Mercer, A Comprehensive Freight Related Transportation Study for Western Monmouth and Southern Mercer Counties.

The meeting will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. (with a presentation at 7:30 p.m.) at Stone Bridge Middle School 1252 Yardville-Allentown Road in Upper Freehold Township.

This study, funded by the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority, will identify short- and long-term strategies in Allentown, Robbinsville, and Upper Freehold intended to manage freight- related travel issues and avoid conflicts based on travel patterns, existing and projected conditions, and planned developments.

At the Oct. 2 meeting, attendees will learn about the project and have opportunities to ask questions and provide input. Public feedback will be solicited on project goals and key issues and problem areas within the study area. Two additional public meetings are planned for January and April 2019.

The final report, to be issued in June 2019, will provide recommendations that are intended to ease freight related congestion and promote a safe traveling environment for all road users.

For additional information on the project please contact the study team at transportation@co.monmouth.nj.us using the subject line “Freight Study.” A comment form and interactive mapping survey is also available on the study website, www.movingmindfully.net.
