Freehold Township – The
Monmouth County 4-H Alumni Association will hold its annual quilt raffle in
conjunction with the Monmouth County Fair.
The fair, presented by the
Monmouth County Park System in cooperation with the Monmouth County 4-H
Association, will be held July 25-29, at the East Freehold Showgrounds,
Kozloski Road, Freehold Township.
The quilt raffle is the
association’s main fundraiser. Proceeds go toward scholarships awarded to
deserving Monmouth County 4-H members. “Over the years, we’ve raised more than
$15,000 to fund these scholarships,” said Alumni Association president Frank
Van Note.
This year’s quilt, with the
theme “Bee Happy,” was made in Monmouth
by Sherre MacClellan of Sea Glass Quilting in Freehold. The quilt is slightly
smaller than a queen-size bed and has a value of $500. Second prize is a 4-pack
of tickets to Six Flags Great Adventure. Third prize is $50 in gift cards for
local restaurants.
The Monmouth County 4-H
Alumni Association sponsors the Alex and Louise Basista Scholarship for
Continuing Education given each year to an alumnus already enrolled in

Scholarship presented annually to a graduating high school senior.
Raffle tickets, at $1 each,
will be available at the 4-H Alumni Association booth along the main pathway at
