County Tourism & Partners Tout
Record Summer Season
ASBURY PARK, NJ –On a beautiful fall day,
the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders and local civic leaders provided a review of the 2017 summer season and gave a glimpse of what’s to come in the months ahead.
“Monmouth County had a great summer with many local events seeing record attendance,” said Freeholder Thomas A. Arnone, liaison to the County’s Department of Public Information and Tourism. “There may have been more cloudy and rainy days than we would have liked, but the sunny days brought twice the amount of beachgoers to our shore towns.”
Monmouth County's overall numbers are up nearly 11% from last year. County beaches, parks, golf courses and museums also saw an increase in visitors over last year.
“Total beach badge sales for Monmouth County for 2017 total more than $19 million - the best numbers since Superstorm Sandy,” said Freeholder Serena DiMaso, Esq., liaison to the County’s Tourism division. “The $19 million includes $2.2 million for Asbury Park alone - which is a 10% jump from last year.”
The Freeholders noted that Monmouth County is a year-round destination with a Tourism calendar full of events.
“Just because the summer is over, it doesn’t mean that the fun ends here in Monmouth County,” added Arnone. “There are still some great outdoor events and then when the temperature starts to drop, you can head into local theaters, shops and restaurants.”
Big events scheduled for this month include:
- Asbury Park Zombie Walk – Oct. 7
- Belmar Oktoberfest – Oct. 8
- Thompson Park Day – Oct. 15
- Bradley Beach Howl-O-Ween Festival – Oct. 21
