FREEHOLD, NJ – The Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders has announced that the 2017 Monmouth County surplus auction will begin Saturday, June 10 and continue through Tuesday, June 13.

“The online surplus auctions continue to serve the County well,” Freeholder Gary J. Rich, Sr. said. “It provides a greater benefit in terms of revenue and makes it easier for bidders as they can monitor the sale electronically. Another advantage is that we get many more participants, often some in other states.”

Surplus property from the County’s Fleet Services, Sheriff’s Office, Buildings and Grounds, Reclamation Center, Park System and seized and surplus property from the Prosecutor’s Office will be sold.

The auction will be conducted by USGovBid/Auction Liquidation Services. A full list of the auction items will be posted online at www.usgovbid.com on June 10. Pictures, descriptions, terms of sale and other information will also be available.

Items for sale will be available for viewing from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, June 12, and Tuesday, June 13. Most items will be available at the Public Works and Engineering Complex, 250 Center St., Freehold.

Heavy equipment to be sold may be inspected by appointment only on Monday, June 12, and Tuesday, June 13 at the Monmouth County Reclamation Center, 6000 Asbury Avenue, Tinton Falls. Interested bidders should contact John Jackowski at 732-890-5191 to make an appointment.

Online bidding for all items will commence at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 10 and will begin to close at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 13. All bidders must pre-register with the auctioneer at www.govauctionlistservices.com.

“In addition to expanding the bidder base, having the entire auction online eliminates weather concerns and reduces labor costs associated with setup, oversight and security,” said Freeholder Thomas A. Arnone, liaison to the Department of Public Works and Engineering.

Successful bidders will be able to pick up their item or items at the County’s Public Works Complex at 250 Center St. in Freehold between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 15 and Friday, June 16.

Successful bidders who do not pick up their items at the County’s Public Works Complex by 3 p.m. on Friday, June 16 will be liable for storage fees equal to 2% of the sale price per business day until the merchandise is removed by the buyer, for up to 10 business days.

The County began conducting online surplus property auctions in 2008. To date, the online auctions have netted more than $2.7 million dollars for the County.
