Law Enforcement Division
As part of the multi-function mission of the Monmouth
County Sheriff's Office, Sheriff Guadagno oversees a 117 member Law
Enforcement Division with a broad range of countywide responsibilities.
The Sheriff's Office Law Enforcement Division renders service of
arrest warrants and other court
ordered documents, provides court
security, prisoner transportation, criminal
identification and supports local municipalities in crime and
traffic contingencies.
All Sheriff's Officers have graduated
a basic police recruit class at an approved New Jersey Police Training
Commission academy. Many take additional training throughout their
careers, which Sheriff Kim Guadagno actively encourages. Under
state law, Sheriff's Officers are empowered to perform police activities
throughout the county, which substantially bolsters law enforcement
capabilities.
On
Saturday, November 17, 2001, the Accreditation Committee of CALEA
voted to approve re-accreditation for the Sheriff's Office Law Enforcement
Division. The Sheriff's Office first earned CALEA accreditation
in August of 1998. As part of the accreditation process, independent
auditors from across the United States traveled to the Sheriff's
Office in Freehold to conduct a comprehensive review of policies
and procedures. Monmouth County was found to be 100% compliant in
all mandatory standards, and scored well with 338 out of 349 total
standards accepted by CALEA auditors.
