       Monmouth County is located in east central New Jersey between longitudes 73 degrees 58 minutes and 74 degrees 37 minutes west and latitudes 40 degrees and 5 minutes and 40 degrees 29 minutes north. It covers 471.57 square miles in area and is the sixth largest County in New Jersey. This figure includes land area only. No exact figure is available for water area but it is estimated at approximately 59 square miles.

       Monmouth County is bordered on the north by Raritan and Sandy Hook bays, on the west by Mercer and Middlesex Counties, on the south by Burlington and Ocean Counties and on the east by the Atlantic Ocean. New York City is 20 miles to the north across Raritan Bay and Philadelphia is 75 miles to the southwest of the County.
