Repaving will disrupt traffic Wednesday

Motorists in Red Bank, Fair Haven and Little Silver affected

RED BANK, NJ – Motorists using the intersection of Prospect Avenue and Harding Road (CR 34) can expect traffic delays and lane closures tomorrow due to repaving. The intersection marks the boundaries of the boroughs of Red Bank, Fair Haven and Little Silver.

DeFino Contracting Co. of Matawan is finishing improvements that include the installation of a fully operational traffic signal and repaving the intersection and its approaches. A flashing beacon will be removed once the work is completed and the new traffic signal is turned on.

The work was started in November 2010, but was delayed due to the severity of the 2010-11 winter season. Contractors will be milling the road during the day and repaving at night. There will be no detours, but there will be lane closures throughout the day and night tomorrow.

“The contractor had demobilized the site because of his inability to work during the winter season, but we are happy to see he is back to complete the paving and installation of the traffic signal,” Freeholder Deputy Director John P. Curley said. “Once completed, this work will significantly improve the safety of the residents and other motorists who travel through that intersection.”

The cost of the project is $445,600.
