Tax preparation service offered free at library
Volunteers will help you prepare and file your returns
FREEHOLD, NJ – Need help filing your taxes? Get help at the Monmouth County Library.
Free income tax preparation assistance is provided by AARP volunteers at the Library Headquarters in Manalapan, the Eastern Branch Library in Shrewsbury and the Wall Township branch of the Monmouth County Library. This service is for low- and middle-income taxpayers with simple returns.
“The AARP and the library have been offering this service to residents of Monmouth County for years,” said Freeholder Lillian G. Burry, liaison to the Monmouth County Library System. “It’s just another example of the outstanding outreach the Library System provides to our residents.”
Preparations will be done on a first-come, first-serve basis. You do not have to be a senior citizen to have your tax return done by the AARP. Please bring last year’s tax returns with you.
The schedule at Library Headquarters and Eastern Branch in Shrewsbury are as follows:

Saturdays 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Please note: These hours are approximate. Depending on the volume of clients, the tax assistants may stop taking new clients an hour or more before the end time listed.
In addition, residents can find a selection of paper tax forms at most Monmouth County Library branches. Please call your branch before you visit to make sure the document you need is there.
