Entrance improvements to
begin at Hall of Records

Project will require temporary entrance near Court Street

FREEHOLD, NJ – On Wednesday, Aug. 18, work will begin to improve access to the county’s Hall of Records at 1 East Main St.

During the construction period, visitors will be directed to a temporary entrance on the east side of the building’s front plaza nearest Court Street. This portico reconstruction project is expected to continue through mid-December.

This relocation is necessary for the work involved in the underpinning of the easternmost façade of the building and the reconstruction of the east portico. Signs will be posted directing visitors to the temporary main entrance. Additionally, a temporary handicap ramp will be provided at the rear entrance while the new one is being built.

Offices located in the building include the County Surrogate, tax board, adjuster, personnel, administration, the courtroom of Judge Thomas W. Cavanaugh, Jr. and the offices and the regular meeting place of the Board of Chosen Freeholders and Clerk of the Board.
