Monmouth County 4-H Joins with JOANN Store to “Spread Love” this February

 

FREEHOLD, NJ – Monmouth County 4-H and JOANN Fabrics in Shrewsbury are hosting a Service Day Project and Clover Campaign to encourage kids to learn by doing, creating and making.

 

In celebration of the month of love, on February 3, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., join Monmouth County 4-H youth at the JOANN store located at 1026 Broad Street in Shrewsbury to hand-make and deliver custom Valentine’s Day cards to the Ronald McDonald House in Long Branch. 

 

“The 4-H Youth Development Program uses a hands-on approach to teach our youth how to gain the knowledge, skills and use the proper approach to become caring and contributing citizens.” said Freeholder Lillian G. Burry, liaison to the Cooperative Extension Service. “The campaign is a great way to show support for the Monmouth County 4-H program.”

 

The Paper Clover campaign will take place in JOANN stores nationwide February 1-28. Supporters will have a chance to share their hearts and show their love for 4-H by purchasing $1 and $4 Paper Clovers to equip county programs and 4-H clubs with resources to reach more kids in need.

 

Proceeds from the Paper Clover campaign will directly support Monmouth County 4-H programs.  Each Paper Clover will include instructions for a special Valentine’s Day craft idea that customers can create to share with someone special.  With the $4 Paper Clover, customers will receive a coupon for $4 off their next purchase.

 

Studies show that many young people lose their natural love of learning somewhere between kindergarten and their senior year of high school. When more Monmouth County youth have access to local 4-H programming, they will participate in hands-on projects where they can design, create and make for themselves. These experiences are proven to rekindle a love of learning and produce a variety of benefits – from strengthening their creativity and imaginative thinking to improving their motor skills, coordination and self-esteem.
