LINCROFT, NJ – Twenty-five elected and appointed officials attended Monmouth County’s annual Local Government Seminar on Saturday, Jan. 21.

“There are many responsibilities that come with serving on local governing bodies,” Monmouth County Freeholder Deputy Director John P. Curley said. “Laws change and municipalities must conform to the new regulations which impact all levels of government. The local officials who attended this session gained valuable knowledge and insight.”

Individuals who registered for the seminar, hosted by Freeholder Curley, found out about topics and issues currently facing local leaders. Topics on the 2017 agenda included: open public meetings, municipal finance opportunities, transportation infrastructure, planning and governing services, public purchasing, shared services, ethics, and emergency management. Seminar speakers were highly qualified professionals, in the public and private sectors.

“In the tradition of the great former Freeholder Theodore Narozanick, it is my privilege to carry-on the annual tradition of engaging and supporting our local officials with an emphasis on educating the newly elected leaders,” Curley said.

Curley has presented this no cost, annual seminar for the past seven years. Brookdale Community College has offered support by providing their facility and the Monmouth County Improvement Authority hosted the complimentary lunch.
