Shark River bridge project requires park land diversion

New Schoolhouse Road Bridge requires park land diversion

NEPTUNE TOWNSHIP, NJ – Monmouth County is accepting public comment regarding land use related to the replacement of the Schoolhouse Road Bridge (W-38) over the Shark River Brook.

“The County has filed a request with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, Green Acres Program proposing a diversion of land at Shark River Park to accommodate the installation of a new bridge,” said Freeholder Thomas A. Arnone. “The land will be replaced in another section of the park.”

The proposed plan will divert 0.401 acres at Shark River Park, located along Schoolhouse Road in Neptune Township and Wall Township, to the bridge replacement project. The plan includes adding 0.401 acres to Shark River Park in Tinton Falls, as replacement land.

“Shark River Park will remain at 988 acres and local travelers will have a new bridge when this is all said and done,” Freeholder Lillian G. Burry said. “We must go through this process to divert the land because we are working within the parameters of the Green Acres program.”

There will be a public hearing about the proposed diversion on Feb. 11, 2016 at 7 p.m. at the Hall of Records, 1 East Main St., in Freehold. The hearing will be held in accordance with N.J.A.C. 7:36-26.6(c).

Information about this requested diversion of parkland project is available for review at the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office at 33 Mechanic St. in Freehold, the Monmouth County Library - Wall Township Branch at 2700 Allaire Rd. in Wall and the Green Acres Program office at 501 East State St. in Trenton.
