Monmouth County Library branch closures

Temporary closures in West Long Branch and Howell

MANALAPAN, NJ – Two Monmouth County Library branches will have temporary closure over the next few weeks:
  • West Long Branch Library, 95 Poplar Ave., is already closed and will remain closed until mid-January.
  • Howell Library, 318 Old Tavern Rd., will be closed from Jan. 1 through Jan. 10.

“Library patrons are welcome to use any of the other Monmouth County Library branches to renew or borrow books, DVDs, CDs or other materials,” said Freeholder Director Lillian G. Burry. “Renewal of lending materials can also be done online.”

The Monmouth County Library System has branches in Allentown, Atlantic Highlands, Colts Neck, Hazlet, Holmdel, Howell, Manalapan (Headquarters), Marlboro, Ocean Township, Oceanport, Shrewsbury (Eastern Branch), West Long Branch and Wall.

The West Long Branch library is temporarily closed due to an electrical fire in a vacant building adjacent to the library.

“Fortunately, no one was hurt and there was no water or smoke damage to the library,” said Burry. “However, there is no heat in the building and the necessary repair work requires that the library be closed to patrons.”

The Howell Library will be closed for the installation of new carpet.
