Surrogate to host “Probate Problems” workshop

County Connection to host free workshop

NEPTUNE, NJ – The Monmouth County Connection will host a workshop entitled “Probate Problems of the Rich and Famous” on Thursday, Nov. 20 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 3544 Highway 66.

The average person has more in common with the celebrities than one might think, at least when it comes to settling wills and estate issues. The feuds and problems that surrounded the estates of Pablo Picasso, Marlon Brando and Leona Helmsley offer lessons for everyone in how to avoid family battles over who gets what. The County Surrogate will discuss those who died without wills, those who wrote their own wills, those who picked the wrong people to handle their affairs and other mistakes that all their money and professional advisers didn’t help them to avoid.

All programs are free and open to all Monmouth County residents, but registration is required. To register, please call 732-303-2828.

The Monmouth County Connection is located in the strip mall at 3544 State Highway 66 in Neptune, adjacent to the Home Depot and across the street from Walmart. The office offers a variety of services including passport processing, passport photos, free notary public, veterans’ IDs, election/voter information, senior and veterans’ services, public access computers and more.

The office is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The County Connection is under the direction of County Clerk M. Claire French and is supported by the Board of Chosen Freeholders.
