November events at the County Connection

County Connection offers free seminars and programs all month

NEPTUNE, NJ – The County Connection will host several informative programs for residents during the month of November, covering a variety of topics including house plants, probating a will and social security.

Do you need help understanding the role Social Security will play in your retirement? On Thursday, Nov. 6 from 6 to 7:30 p.m., get the facts from the Society of Financial Awareness on how to make the right decision about your Social Security benefits. Learn about the factors that will affect your Social Security, how much money you will receive, how to determine the right time to take Social Security and how to get the most out of your benefits.

Many people find growing tomatoes or even caring for a perennial garden easier than keeping houseplants alive. It seems like one day they’re thriving and the next their dropping leaves or suddenly infested with bugs. Learn what signs to look for and how to care for your houseplants before they take a turn for the worst from the Monmouth County Master Gardeners on Tuesday, Nov. 18 from 2 to 3:30 p.m.

Pablo Picasso, Marlon Brando, Howard Hughes and Leona Helmsley have something in common besides having been rich and famous.  The feuds and problems surrounding their estates offer lessons for everyone in how to avoid family battles over who gets what.  On Thursday, Nov. 20 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monmouth County Surrogate Rosemarie Peters will discuss those who died without wills, those who wrote their own wills, those who picked the wrong people to handle their affairs, and other mistakes that all their money and professional advisers didn’t help them to avoid.

“I encourage residents to take advantage of some of the great services provided at the County Connection,” said Freeholder Director Lillian G. Burry. “In addition to great workshops, the County Connection offers passport services, free notary public and many other services all free of cost.”

The County Connection also offers the following recurring programs every month:
