Helicopter auction scheduled for May 17-June 17

Auction to close on June 17

FREEHOLD, NJ – The Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders has announced that a Jet Ranger Helicopter will be available for purchase through an online auction which will begin May 17 and continue through June 17.

“The sale of this helicopter is a rare and exciting opportunity for the County and potential buyers,” Freeholder Deputy Director Gary J. Rich, Sr. said. “The County’s online auctions provide a great benefit in terms of revenue and make it easier for bidders as they can monitor the sale though their computers. Another benefit is that we get many more bidders, including some in other states.”

The helicopter is surplus property from the Monmouth County Mosquito Extermination Commission.

The helicopter may be inspected by appointment only, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. from Monday, May 19 through Monday, June 16, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, at Monmouth County Mosquito Extermination Commission at 1901 Wayside Rd. in Tinton Falls.

“The County constantly looks for ways to maximize efficiency of services and resources,” said Freeholder Serena DiMaso, liaison to the County Mosquito Extermination Commission. “Auctioning equipment that is no longer used by the County is just one of the many methods utilized to achieve this.”

Potential bidders may contact the Monmouth County Division of Fleet Services at 732-431-7830 or its representatives, Dennis Szostek at ext. 4891 or Paul Grosselfinger at ext. 7165, with any questions or to make an appointment to inspect the helicopter.

The auction will be conducted by Auction Liquidation Services. Online bidding for all will commence at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 17 and will begin to close at 6 p.m. on June 17. All bidders must pre-register with the auctioneer at www.govauctionlistservices.com.

The successful bidder must remove the helicopter from County property no later than July 17. If the successful bidder does not pick up the helicopter by July 17, they will be liable for storage fees equal to 1% of the sale price per business day until the helicopter is removed by the buyer, for up to 10 business days.

The County began conducting its surplus property auctions completely online in 2008. To date, the online auctions have netted more than $2 million dollars for the County.
