Centenarian birthday party
Monmouth County honors residents who are 100 plus years of age
HAZLET, NJ – Monmouth County’s Office on Aging joined with Regency Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hazlet to host the Monmouth County’s Centenarian Celebration, honoring residents aged 100 and over.
“It was great gathering to celebrate our Monmouth County centenarians,” said Freeholder John P. Curley. “It was truly astonishing to see how active many of them are and to hear them speak of their over 100 years of living. This was a great celebration for them to share with their families and friends, and I can’t wait to participate again next year.”
The birthday party was held at the Regency Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on May 7 and included a luncheon, music, gifts and a birthday cake.
“The energy level of the centenarians I met is incredible,” said Freeholder Thomas A. Arnone. “They are an inspiration to us all and I hope to see them all at the celebration again next year.”
There were 15 centenarians in attendance: Blanche Achnitz, 100; Frances Christopher, 101; Margaret Cosgrove, 100 Katherine Doman, 100; Gertrude Feldon, 101; Elizabeth Fitzpatrick, 101; Margaret Pandolfo, 100; Frank Raffa, 100; Bea Rossi, 100; Christina Savoca, 102; Anthony Schittina, 102; Julia Taylor, 102; Elverna Van Dyke, 100; John Wade, 104; and Beatrice Zydel, 104. 
“I am so honored that I was able to share this special day with these Monmouth County residents who have reached this phenomenal milestone,” said Freeholder Serena DiMaso. “It was an incredible event and all of the centenarians had a great time.”
In June 2013, Regency broke the Guinness Book of World Records for the “Largest Gathering of Centenarians” at their Somerset location, Regency Jewish Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center by gathering 40 centenarians in one location.
