Monmouth County Fire Academy graduates 32

FREEHOLD – The Monmouth County Fire Academy recently graduated 32 volunteers from Firefighter I Class #77. The ceremony was held July 31.

 The Firefighter I graduates attended weekend classes at the Monmouth County Fire Academy in Howell and completed more than 130 hours of course work. They received training in rescue, fire extinguishment, hazardous materials response, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, electrical safety, and care of hoses and other equipment. 

 “The graduates of class 77 are ready to join the ranks of other active local firefighters who serve their neighbors, friends and communities,” said Freeholder William C. Barham, who oversees the fire academy. “Firefighters, along with other emergency responders, are available at all times. They are confronted with life and death situations and their ability to react properly and safely can be attributed to the county training program they have just completed.”

 “These firefighters are very dedicated,” said William Itinger, chief training officer at the county facility.  “I have no doubt they will provide a great service to their communities as they carry out their important duties. They are joining thousands of other local firefighters who receive training at the county fire academy each year.”

 “Volunteer firefighters provide a necessary service and assist in the delivery of quality public services at the local level,” Barham said.  “These new graduates are to be commended for their dedication and willingness to serve.”

 Each firefighter was awarded a certificate of course completion by county Fire Marshall Timothy Smith and Itinger.
