County to host economic recovery roundtable
Dec. 3 event with RSVP required
SHREWSBURY, NJ – Business owners affected by Super storm Sandy and the following nor’easter are invited to participate in an economic impact roundtable at the Eastern Branch of the Monmouth County Library located at 1001 Rt. 35, Shrewsbury, NJ at 6 p.m. on Monday Dec. 3.
“The roundtable is being held to ensure that the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) hears directly about what our local businesses have experienced and to move the economic recovery forward,” Freeholder Deputy Director Thomas A. Arnone said. “I strongly encourage business leaders who are focused on the rebuilding of our local economy to attend.”
The Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders, in partnership with the US Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration, is hosting this economic impact assessment roundtable to find out about all the local business issues related to the two major storms.
FEMA has initiated the National Disaster Recovery Framework (NRDF) for the State of New Jersey. The framework has six distinct support functions, one of which is economic recovery. The U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration is the lead agency for the Economic Recovery Support Function (RSF).
The mission of the Economic RSF is to integrate the expertise of the federal government to help local, state, and tribal governments and the private sector sustain and/or rebuild businesses and employment, and develop economic opportunities that result in sustainable and economically resilient communities, after significant natural and man-made disasters.
“The key role for Economic RSF is to facilitate economic recovery, not drive it,” Arnone said. “Our first step is to make sure that Monmouth County businesses provide essential information at this roundtable.”
Space is limited so please RSVP as soon as possible to our Economic Development Department at Susan.Folta@co.monmouth.nj.us
