County emergency distribution centers are running

County / community partnerships

 

WALL, NJ – The three distribution sites set up through the Monmouth County’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM) are in full operation and running efficiently.

 

The Peddler’s Village site in Manasquan was a picture of community first responders and the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office working together to meet the needs of the victims of Hurricane Sandy. 

 

A serpentine route marked by traffic cones guided the vehicles entering the Peddler’s Village parking lot where the vehicles were directed by sheriff’s officers and other first responders to the line for the emergency supplies. 

 

Motorists were asked to remain in their cars as volunteers placed the needed items in the car for them. 

 

The supply lines were staffed by members of the Wall Community First Aid Squad, Wall First Aid and Rescue Squad, South Wall Fire Company, Glendola Fire Company, Wall Fire Company #1 and members of the New Jersey National Guard.

 

According to Ralph Addonizio, captain of Wall Community First Aid Squad, approximately 200 vehicles per hour received supplies through the emergency distribution center today. With multiple loading points along the supply line, the average wait time for the supplies was less than five minutes.

 

“First responders throughout Monmouth County - fire, first aid and EMS - are the unsung heroes of our recent disaster,” said Sheriff Shaun Golden. “We are grateful that so many people are working together as we all reach out to assist the victims of Hurricane Sandy.”

 

The three emergency distribution sites remain as follows for ice, water and MREs.
