Debris collection guidelines in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy

FREEHOLD, NJ – In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, Monmouth County’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has established guidelines for debris cleanup.

“Every resident that is cleaning up in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, should separate all debris into four major categories,” Mike Oppegaard, OEM Director said. “Each town must separate storm debris from trash and the towns need the assistance of residents to move this cleanup along in and efficient and responsible manner.”

The debris must be separated into the following categories:

·             Vegetation – under three (3) inches in diameter and clean wood

·             Vegetative – over three (3) inches in diameter and stumps

·             Metal

·             Regular garbage
