County’s Greentable group to discuss
food access, agriculture and more

FREEHOLD, NJ – Monmouth County’s final Greentable meeting for 2012 will be held from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 24 in the Monmouth County Planning Board Conference Room, Hall of Records Annex at One East Main St.

October 24 is Food Day, a nationwide celebration of healthy, affordable and sustainable food. This Greentable meeting will provide a forum for attendees to discuss food access, wellness, agriculture and other food issues in Monmouth County.

Food Day, created by the Center for Science in the Public Interest, takes place annually on October 24 to address issues as varied as health and nutrition, hunger and agricultural policy. The ultimate goal of Food Day is to strengthen and unify the food movement in order to improve our nation’s food policies.

Participating in the discussion will be representatives from the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, CentraState Wellness Center, and the NJ Department of Agriculture.

The Monmouth County Greentable is a periodic meeting of individuals, groups and government representatives who work together to preserve open spaces and farmlands. The group presents information about past, present and future local preservation projects as a way to share experiences, expectations and ideas.
