Holmdel’s Serena DiMaso is new freeholder
Takes seat vacated by Assemblyman Robert D. Clifton
FREEHOLD, NJ – Holmdel Deputy Mayor Serena DiMaso was sworn in as a Monmouth County freeholder on Saturday, Jan. 14. DiMaso fills the unexpired term of Robert D. Clifton, who recently was sworn in as an assemblyman in 12th Legislative District. DiMaso also took a ceremonial oath of office during the regular meeting of the Board of Chosen Freeholders on Jan. 26.
“I am pleased to join the Board of Chosen Freeholders and I look forward to making a positive impact on the delivery of services to Monmouth County residents,” DiMaso said. “I will continue to advocate for expanding shared services and responsible budgeting while maximizing the many services that the county already provides to its residents.”
In taking the seat on the Board of Chosen Freeholders, DiMaso resigned her seat on the Holmdel Township Committee, where she had served since 2002.
“Serena DiMaso has a stellar record of public service in her hometown of Holmdel, where she ably served as a Township Committeewoman and as mayor and deputy mayor,” Freeholder Director John P. Curley said. “She will be an asset to the Board of Chosen Freeholders and I welcome her.”
DiMaso currently serves on the Meridian Hospitals Corporation Board of Trustees, as chairwoman of the Bayshore Hospital Foundation and as an active member of the Holmdel First Aid Squad.
She holds a Juris Doctorate degree from St. John’s University School of Law and is also a graduate of St. John’s University, College of Business Administration with a B.S. in management. She is also a 2004 graduate of the Christine Todd Whitman Excellence in Public Service Series.
“I am pleased that Serena DiMaso has joined the Board of Chosen Freeholders and I am looking forward to working with her on advancing the delivery of government services,” Freeholder Deputy Director Thomas A. Arnone said. “She makes a terrific addition to the Board.”
“I have known Serena DiMaso for many years,” said Freeholder Lillian G. Burry. “Her interest and commitment to open space preservation, the education of our youth and maintaining a community where people want to live, work and raise a family will serve her well on this board.”
“Freeholder DiMaso brings her solid municipal experience to a freeholder board that is mindful of keeping taxes at a manageable level while providing the services that our residents have come to expect,” Freeholder Gary J. Rich Sr. said. “I look forward to working with her on the board.”
DiMaso is married to Dr. Gerald DiMaso and they have four children.
